Create Your Own Tool Roll
This article shows you how to make the ExploreROLL Lite, and the slightly larger ExploreROLL Adventure, tool rolls. The ExploreROLL Lite is a super compact tool roll, features a handy pull out zip pouch, and is perfect for carrying a compact tool kit. The ExploreROLL Adventure is identical to the ExploreROLL Lite, however it has two additional zip pouches which provide a larger capacity to carry a more extensive tool kit. Both are excellent tool rolls and offer excellent tool storage options, mixed with quick and easy access.
These tool rolls can be made on most medium to heavy duty sewing machines. Simply download the tool roll pattern of your choice below, print it on a standard home printer, and make your own tool roll in under two hours.
The fabric, or mix of fabrics used, is entirely up to you. Because this pattern is double sided, it allows you to mix and match colours to go with your bike, riding gear, sponsors etc. Check out the bottom of this page for fabric suggestions, and also links to all the other hardware and tools used.
History of This Tool Roll
The design of these tool rolls has come from over a decade of adventure riding in New Zealand. I found that many tool rolls on the market didn’t fit all of my tools, but mostly, I found that many tool rolls were poorly made and fell to pieces after just a few months of heavy use. The ExploreROLL tool rolls were designed to be practical, compact, and by making them out of quality materials, they last for years. They have been extensively tested on numerous multi-day and multi-week adventure rides and have proven to be brilliant.
